Meanwhile on Kagg sigma…
Well since this is going to be the first in my new series of blogs i suppose a brief introduction is in order. My name is Mishaal Syed, i am what you would call a pakistani equivelant of a nerd but you wouldnt consider me one just by looking at me(just started rocking the thick black glasses aawww yeaah), no most people think i look cool because i normally carry myself with a degree of confidence. Now back to the nerd thing, im a nerd gamer(unfortunatly im not a nerd at studies :3),and ive been passionate about it since i was 7 years old when my mum scored me my first gaming device, the Nintendo gameboy! oh my god i loved that thing(and still do)! My first game i believe was mortal kombat 2 and defeating shao khan was well, kinda awesome(didnt know who the hell this slow guy who hit hard was at the time:P). My first official console was the sega mega drive,it was magical for quite some time until i met my true love, the playstation. That console was truely magical as it provided me with amazing experiances (when i first felt the vibration of the duel shock controller i thought i was being electricuted XD). I played alot of magical games from Metal gear solid one, Syphon filter 1 and 2(played 3 but it wasnt as good as the first two), Legend of dragoon(an extremely underrated RPG),Final fantasy 8 and 9(yes yes i know i missed out on 7:P),along with the crash bandicoot series which was truely an excellently made platformer by naughty dog.
then came the age of Playstation 2 which did provide some magical experiances but nothing quite on par with the ps1(except when it came to sports games and the odd amazing gem such as okami, shadow of the collosus and my number one favorite game series of all time, god of war 1 and 2:D).
Then came the age of the playstation 3…alas i could not afford it and went into pc gaming XD! I mostly used to play counter strike, warcraft 3 and C & C generals but then there came a little game known as world of warcraft and well,i lost track of a few years of my life XP.
fast forward to the year 2011,more specifically lets fast forward to about may/june. I was in a world of warcraft guild(lets call it WoW from now on) and we had cleared the first 12 bosses on normal mode. This for me was an amazing achievement especially under the circumstances. You see,in order to raid id have to camp out, with my friends laptop(its battery was dead so it was like a portable desktop) at my friends houses(one near my house and one who lived far from it) for 4 days a week. Let me explain,i was using an internet service known as world call telecom limited and until the near the end of 2010 i was quite satisfied, but alas the problems slowly started. The basic jist of it is that at night my internet speed would die out completely to the point where in a race a slug would beat my Internet 10 times out of 10. I tried getting it sorted but alas it was terrible. I even went so far as to get another Internet service installed along with worldcall but that was more or less a joke,id disconnect from WoW every 3-5 minutes using the “new” service.
Eventually i had to give up my main spot in the group and studies wise things were getting bleak as i had put too much time into WoW,cricket and friends(i love cricket and i love my friends…yes i know that sounds gay but deal with it!),and it got so bad that i had to eventually quit wow as i had suffered an insane amount of duress on the final weekend of wow(my group hadnt raided for 2 weeks and when we were raiding it was after my exams that didnt go too well, and then my internet was bugging out and i ended up nearly going berserk with rage).
So that was the end for wow for me,and in the months that followed i finally got a game that i wanted to play for a very very long time…STARCRAFT 2!!:D
i had been following starcraft 2 ever since the blizzard announcement,i was fascinated by the game. It just looked gorgeous and the strategic aspect of the game appealed to me. But during the time of the announcement and then the beta that came quite some time after,a hunger stirred within me….I wanted to see MORE Starcraft….
There were battle reports(i think thats what they were called) where David Kim along with some other dude would play matches and David Kim would perform some kind of spectacular strategy and win the game,it was awesome to watch. But alas these reports were few and far in between…i needed to find a regular source in order to get my Starcraft itch scratched.
Eventually i came onto YouTube(yes i know i wasn’t on it earlier and i suck:( ) and i found a guy known as….husky…..
This guy was amazing, his casts were so entertaining and the games he`d cast would be spectacular!!! Then i found out about HD who was another caster of this game that I’ve fallen in love with, and he offered a different style of casting that i grew to love equally!
many moons passed and i never missed a game(until earlier this year when my internet was terrible!) and then this summer…. i finally got it:D!
when i started starcraft 2, i initially did play protoss, albeit briefly but then i switched to zerg and O-M-GEEE!!!it just felt so natural!!!! Getting into the groove of playing a lot of games in a day took time,id just play a few and then be done and want to leave to do something else(still have that prob). but slowly i started putting more and more time into it,i went from bronze,to silver,to gold and then….to platinum!!! But alas…once reaching platinum,a massive hole in my armor was revealed….
My major weakness was revealed in platinum….my weakest match up…is a mirror match….and in platinum id face zerg after zerg after zerg and this would go on and on and on and i hemorrhaged over 50 losses easily to zerg’s and the losing streak started to extend to protoss and terran as my head just wasn’t in the game…..
Eventually…day9 saved me!!!i currently use a zerg vs zerg build and even though my zvz(zerg vs zerg) isn’t exactly spot on,i win as much as i lose so so far its fair enough :3.
But alas,i lost my platinum ranking and got shot down to gold, but fortunately i didn’t fall any further, but my journey back to platinum has been a hard one! My Internet was down for nearly 2 weeks,so i had to play at friends houses, and i got onto a brief losing streak but now I’m back and on the precipice of going platinum once again!!!
Anyway I’m sorry if I’ve bored ya`ll by all of this but well, its my life:). I’m going to keep writing these blogs about the things that happen to me in games, in life, and talk some more Starcraft 2 and cricket(my 2 great passions) and hopefully provide you, Le reader, with some insights and entertainment, stay tuned for more adventures and mediocre drama!
